All over the world, farming communities need to adapt a changing climate. At same time, they are confronted by necessity increase food availability for growing population, but also ensure sustainable use of natural resources. In this process, agriculture is not just fiend responsible an in greenhouse gas emissions, nor victim rising temperatures and extreme weather events. Agriculture ally climate change mitigation adaptation because selection ad hoc crop varieties livestock can lower environmental impact implementation better management practices promote soil conservation. Crop gross primary productivity (GPP) is an important characteristic for evaluating crop nitrogen content and yield, as well as the carbon exchange. Based on the close relationship observed between GPP and total chlorophyll content in crops, we applied a model that relies on a product of chlorophyll-related vegetation index and incoming photosynthetically active radiation for remote estimation ...

This paper innovates as it tests two different hypotheses regarding climate impacts on agricultural markets in Brazil: farmers only observe the average climate conditions of their region when deciding the type and amount of crop/animal to grow/raise; and weather diversions from normal climate conditions deviate farmers from their optimal profits. Both hypotheses are not rejected by the data. Th...
